Experience and Education
As I look back over my experiences through the years, I understand that I started walking this healing path early in life and, like many in the helping professions, I came to this work by way of my own experience of working through trauma and the extremes of anxiety and depression. My interest in trauma recovery, attachment, and embodied, somatic, relational healing began early in my life: as an infant born to struggling young parents and their own history of suffering, as an adolescent searching for her gifts and connection to others, and as an adult working through the complexities of relationships, healing, and personal identity.
Early in my career I worked with children and their families at a county mental health agency. I gained valuable experience with trauma, attachment-related issues, and mental health concerns as I worked with children at risk for out-of-home placement and hospitalization and their families. I took a detour from this work to become a parent while also teaching yoga and pursuing graduate training in Educational and School Psychology. After completion of this study, I transitioned to the public school system as a school psychologist and worked with pre-k through high school age students. I had the incredible opportunity to combine my passion for education and social-emotional health as I completed educational and mental health assessments and worked individually with students. Then, in 2012, my family and I moved to Colorado and I decided to broaden my skillset and explore my interests. I studied massage therapy, trained as an Ayurvedic Wellness Counselor, and completed additional graduate training in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (Transpersonal Counseling Psychology). I have always been an active learner and continually seek new skills and approaches to assist individuals.
I believe that all my experiences added to my compassion and capacity to help others navigate their struggles… from the depths of despair to the heights of bliss, to find a place within that expands to hold and experience it all. And in this place we can feel:
